Wiltrud Abels

Wiltrud is a consultant specialist in critical care in anaesthesiology at Charité University in Berlin. She has worked in her department’s telemedical intensive care unit that is actively supporting quality intensive care for sepsis patients on a daily basis, providing consultations for colleagues in intensive care in Germany and beyond. Within the Sub-Saharan African Consortium for Advancement of Innovative Research and Care in Sepsis (STAIRS) she is working on exploring the use of telemedicine for expediting sepsis care in Sub-Sahara Africa.  She has continued to work for the German Sepsis Foundation since 2020 to support survivors of sepsis and their families, and promote awareness and sepsis knowledge with a focus on the German regions of Berlin and Brandenburg.
