Will is a Director of External Affairs at CARB-X, a global non-profit, which supports the development of new antibiotics and other life-saving products to combat drug-resistant bacteria. He joined CARB-X from the Wellcome Trust, where he was most recently Head of Global Government Relations. While there, he established Wellcome’s Global Government Relations team, and oversaw engagement with governments across the UK, Americas, Africa, and Asia Pacific, as well as working multilaterally through the G7, G20 and UN. Before this role, he led several key policy areas for Wellcome including access and epidemic preparedness, and worked at the heart of Wellcome’s international Covid-19 response. He began his career in finance before moving to the UK Treasury as a civil servant and advising ministers on a range of economic policy issues. He’s passionate about tackling AMR and began working on the issue in 2014, as Senior Policy Advisor to the Review on AMR. He wrote a book in 2018 on the policy challenges and solutions, with Lord Jim O’Neill and Anthony McDonnell. He holds an Executive MPP from the LSE.
