James Hospedales

Panelist in Session 3

James is a citizen of Trinidad and Tobago, with 30 years’ experience in public health in the Caribbean, Latin America, UK, and USA.

In 2020, he founded the EarthMedic and EarthNurse Foundation for Planetary Health to mobilise health professionals to address the climate crisis.

He serves as:

  • Chair of the Defeat-NCD Partnership, focused on NCDs in low resource countries.

  • Climate and Health Advisor, Healthy Caribbean Coalition.

  • Co-chair, Research for Action on Climate and Health in the Caribbean Project. 

He was Executive Director of CARPHA, 2013-2019, and Coordinator of NCDs in PAHO/WHO 2006-2012.

He played key roles in advocacy for HIV/AIDS and NCDs in the Caribbean and UN system.

Over 100 papers and reports and a regular contributor to the G7/G20.

An honors graduate in medicine from UWI, graduate of London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, a person of faith, married with three children and three grandchildren. He loves woodwork – IG @PapaBoisTT.
