Professor John Myburgh AO is Professor of Intensive Care Medicine at the University of New South Wales, Sydney. He is Director of the Division of Critical Care and Trauma and the George Institute for Global Health, Sydney and a consultant physician in the Department of Intensive Care Medicine at St George Hospital, Sydney.
He has been a practicing intensive care physician for the last 35 years and is a leading clinician-researcher having conducted over 35 clinical trials in Intensive Care Medicine. His h-index is 40 with over 12000 citations. He is a foundation member and past-chair of the ANZICS Clinical Trials Group and Past-President of the College of Intensive Care Medicine.
His areas of scientific expertise include catecholamine pharmacology, fluid resuscitation, endocrine function in critical illness, sepsis and clinical trial methodology.
He is committed to the integrity of science, open-access education, improving public health and diversity.
