I went into the Covid ICU of a hospital as a 70-year-old diabetic fearing that I could soon be a statistic as a patient with co-morbidity. What I learned from my experience was that the type and quality of oxygen feed may matter as I was personally rescued by a mask that pumped in oxygen at pressure into my lungs, which was a relief because I had absolutely refused to be intubated. My body may have responded to the combination drugs and the 30-liter oxygen feed in time to be able to emerge virtually unscathed after 10 days in ICU. Unfortunately, I was not made aware of the fact that my 91-year-old mother was also in Covid ICU in the same hospital and we lost her to the coronavirus. As a newspaper editor, I could transmit some of the experience to my readers in columns and with what I believed was the best possible information to those suffering from Covid-19.
I am hoping my experience would be useful to the medical Congress.
