Thomas Rollinson

Thomas is a Senior Physiotherapist and Clinical Lead Physiotherapist in Intensive Care at Austin Health in Melbourne, Australia. He graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2011 with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy with Honours. He was a lead ICU Physiotherapist during the COVID pandemic and coordinated prone positioning teams at the Austin Hospital.
He is a final year PhD Candidate at the University of Melbourne investigating exercise and recovery following critical illness. His research focuses on physical activity in patients with critical illness, muscle wasting in critical illness with sepsis, early exercise interventions, and biomarkers of catabolic state.
He has participated as a site investigator on some of the largest, international randomized trials of ICU rehabilitation conducted, including the eStimCYCLE, TEAM, and CYCLE trials. His work has won awards from the Society of Cachexia and Muscle Wasting Disorders, the Australian Physiotherapy Association, the University of Melbourne, and Austin Health.
