Nathan Shapiro

Nathan, MD, MPH is a Professor of Emergency Medicine at Harvard Medical School and an attending Physician at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.
He has a research interest in the diagnosis and treatment of early sepsis and resuscitation in critical illness. His research heavily incorporates both biomarker diagnostic technologies as well as non-invasive hemodynamic monitoring techniques to measure both macrocirculatory and microcirculatory flow parameters at the bedside.
He has a particular interest and expertise in endothelial cell and glycocalyx injury in sepsis. He also has a strong track record of designing clinical and translational research studies in the acute setting.
